Construction of the 23 Avenue Interchange began on April 2, 2008. In the last month the noise fence along the south side of 23 Avenue between Calgary Trail and 105 Street has been completed. Work on storm sewers, bridge approaches, bridge pile installations, and construction of detour roads in the centre median along Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard north and south has continued. This month work will include sewer installation on the Northwest Service Road, storm sewers throughout the worksite, bridge approaches and bridge pile installation at 23 Avenue and Calgary Trail/Gateway Boulevard. The City of Edmonton has retained Team ISL, led by ISL Engineering and Land Services, to provide the engineering and related professional services for the preliminary design, detailed design and construction administration of the 23 Avenue/Gateway Boulevard Interchange project. The interchange configuration will be based on the recommendations presented in the Concept Plan that began in 2001. The final interchange configuration has been modofied based on the recommendations presented in the Final Concept Plan.
